The Dovecot Surgery operates a Personal List system, which means that although you are registered with the practice you will be assigned to one of the partners upon registration. This promotes continuity of care for patient and assists the practice in an equitable distribution of duties between the doctors.
Unless you request otherwise or in times of absence your GP appointments will be booked with your allocated doctor. Please note however, that you are not able to exercise choice for same day or acute appointments. Choice is only available for routine bookable in advance appointments.
The practice has a range of appointments available Monday to Friday that include:
- Bookable in advance – available in both morning and afternoon sessions as far in advance as the appointment schedule is made up.
- Bookable on the day – for patients who have an acute need to be seen that same day.
- Acute – when all appointments are booked but the patient needs to be seen they will be asked to come down immediately and wait.
The reception team will make enquiries about the nature of the problem so that they allocate patients to the most appropriate appointment slot. This may include directing the patient towards an appointment with our nurse practitioner who can treat and prescribe for a range of minor ailments.
