We ask that requests for home visits are made as early in the day as possible, preferably before 10:30. Requests can be made by telephoning 01642 676520 and the lines are open from 08:30 Monday to Friday.
It is preferable to see patients at the surgery where the doctor has diagnostic facilities and support staff available. Home visits are restricted to patients who, in the doctor’s opinion, are too ill to come to the surgery. Transport difficulties or the age of the patient are not acceptable reasons for home visit requests.
Visits are normally made over the lunch-time period, after morning surgery.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
